Martha Bibbee Obituary, Death – The Nichols area is currently in mourning as a beloved family member has tragically passed away in a two-alarm house fire. Debra Causey has confirmed the devastating loss of her sister, Martha Bibbee, who was 63 years old. Alongside Martha, her two dogs, Buttercup and Gizzey, also lost their lives in the fire.
The Horry County Fire Rescue received a distress call just after 7:45 p.m. on Thursday, prompting their immediate dispatch to Bibbee’s residence located near Highway 917 and Ferguson Road. The severity of the situation led to a second alarm being sounded, calling for additional crews to assist in extinguishing the flames. The Loris Fire Department, Mullins Fire & Rescue, and South Carolina State Fire all joined forces with HCFR to combat the fire.
Tragically, Martha’s husband, Robbie Bibbee, who serves as a volunteer firefighter with Horry County Fire Rescue, was unable to respond to the incident in time. He was engaged in battling a wildfire on Sumter Road when he received the heartbreaking news about his wife.
Debra Causey emphasized that Martha had a deep love for dogs and was a pillar of support for her family. The family home held immense sentimental value as it served as a gathering place for cherished family meals.
