Martinez Nolasco, Leeyan Yan Obituary – On Wednesday, a jury reached a verdict of guilty for Usman Shahid, the driver who was charged in a crash that resulted in the tragic deaths of two Oakton High School students, Ada Martinez Nolasco and Leeyan Yan, in June 2022.
Shahid, who possessed only a learner’s permit at the time of the incident, faced two counts of involuntary manslaughter. According to prosecutors, he was driving at a speed exceeding 80 mph when his vehicle collided with another car in the vicinity of Blake Lane and Five Oaks Road, located south of Oakton High School. This collision caused both cars to spin out of control, ultimately striking three girls who were walking on foot, including Nolasco and Yan. Fortunately, the third teenager involved in the accident survived.
It is worth noting that several other individuals also required hospitalization as a result of this tragic incident.
