Michael Gene Knable Death – A fatal accident occurred in Danville early Saturday morning at the Steamboat Bill Hudson Memorial Bridge. Decatur Police were alerted to the incident around 1:10 a.m. after receiving a report of debris on the road. Upon arrival, officers observed damage to the guardrail and subsequently discovered a vehicle partially submerged in the Tennessee River. The Morgan County Rescue Squad, Decatur Fire & Rescue, and Decatur Morgan EMS promptly responded to the scene.
According to investigators, the vehicle was traveling southbound on Hwy 31 when it veered off the road, crashed through the guardrail, and descended down an embankment before entering the Tennessee River.
The driver, identified as Michael Gene Knable, 55, was tragically pronounced dead at the scene by Morgan County Coroner Jeff Chunn.
As of now, the investigation into the incident is still ongoing.
