Nerissa Bragg-Leaf Death: The deceased woman struck by a vehicle and killed on Ind. 37 before dawn on Feb. 20 was identified as Nerissa Bragg-Leaf, a 48-year-old homeless individual who had been residing in Bloomington. Initially, the Monroe County Coroner’s Office refrained from disclosing the woman’s identity until they could reach out to her family.
At approximately 6:40 that Tuesday morning, authorities received reports of an individual dressed in dark clothing walking south in the northbound lane of the highway. Shortly after, multiple callers reported that the person had been hit by a vehicle.
Upon the arrival of sheriff’s deputies and emergency medical personnel, the woman was discovered deceased on the highway close to Dillman Road.
Dustin Eason, 38, of Bloomington, was taken into custody by the police on a charge of leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death, a felony that carries a potential prison term of two to 12 years. He has since been released on bond.
