Noah Garcia Death – A 19-year-old resident of Cathedral City passed away, and five others were admitted to the hospital following a traffic collision on Monday night, as reported by the Cathedral City Police Department. Officers responded to a call regarding a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of 33rd Avenue and Cathedral Canyon Drive at approximately 9 p.m. According to the police, a car traveling at a “high rate of speed” was traveling north on Cathedral Canyon Drive when it collided with a second car that was making a left-hand turn from southbound Cathedral Canyon Drive onto 33rd Avenue.
The initial car continued for another 1,000 feet, crashing into a mailbox, skidding sideways, and hitting another mailbox along with two parked vehicles in a driveway. The driver was transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. The deceased was identified as Noah Garcia by the Riverside County coroner’s office.
There were four passengers in the first car who were also taken to the hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening. These passengers included a 20-year-old woman, a 21-year-old woman, a juvenile female, and a juvenile male. Police reported that two of the women had fractures, while the other passengers sustained minor injuries.
Upon investigation, police discovered two loaded, unregistered handguns inside the first car at the crash site. It has not been determined yet whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision, according to the police.
The driver of the second car did not sustain any injuries, but their passenger was taken to the hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening. Both vehicles suffered significant damage.
