Nuur Hasan Barre Obituary – The man who lost his life in a two-vehicle crash near Elm Creek on Friday has been identified as Nuur Hasan Barre, a 38-year-old resident of Lexington, according to the Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office. The incident occurred around 2:15 p.m. near Highway 30 and Cessna Road, prompting the sheriff’s deputies to respond to the scene.
Initial findings from the investigation revealed that Barre, who was driving a westbound sedan, veered across the center line to avoid a stationary vehicle waiting to make a southbound turn onto Cessna Road. As a result, Barre collided head-on with an eastbound pickup truck, causing both vehicles to come to rest in a south ditch.
Tragically, Barre was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver of the pickup truck received on-site medical treatment and was subsequently released. The passenger of the pickup truck was transported to a local hospital for minor injuries.
Multiple agencies provided assistance during the incident, including the Kearney Police/Buffalo County Sheriff Fatality Accident Investigation Team, Elm Creek Volunteer Rural Fire and Rescue, CHI-Good Samaritan Hospital Paramedics, Buffalo County Attorney’s Office, Nebraska State Patrol, and Nebraska Department of Transportation.
The investigation into this incident is still ongoing, and an autopsy has been scheduled to further shed light on the circumstances surrounding the crash.
