Oscar Alejandro Silva Cuevas Obituary – The Kern County Coroner’s Office has confirmed the identity of the second individual who passed away following a head-on collision on Highway 43 as 29-year-old Oscar Alejandro Silva Cuevas from Fresno. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported that the incident occurred on the northbound side of Highway 43, just north of Pond Road, at approximately 3:34 a.m. on May 12, 2024.
CHP stated that Cuevas was driving a Honda northbound on Highway 43, while the driver of a Dodge was traveling southbound. The Honda suddenly veered to the left, directly into the path of the Dodge, resulting in a head-on collision.
Cuevas and one of the passengers in the Dodge, identified as 69-year-old Herminia Perez, tragically lost their lives in the accident. An autopsy determined that Cuevas’ cause of death was due to blunt injuries.
