Patricia Luffman Casper Death – Winston-Salem police are investigating a crash that killed a woman and her dog. According to police, this happened Sunday night on U.S. 52 southbound, north of Exit 115 at University Parkway at 7:15 p.m. Upon arrival, officers found the bodies of 51-year-old Patricia Luffman Casper and her dog.
Based on witness statements and evidence, investigators said Casper ran into the southbound lanes of U.S. 52 to retrieve her dog after it ran into the road. The two were hit and killed by an oncoming car.
All southbound lanes of U.S. 52 were closed for several hours following this incident.
The Winston-Salem Police Department’s Traffic Enforcement Unit has assumed investigative responsibility. This marks the city’s 25th traffic-related fatality in 2023 compared to 17 during the same time period in 2022.
