Phillip Dusseault Obituary – According to court records, Phillip Dusseault, a homeless man, was identified by Daytona Beach police as the individual who was killed by a train on November 2nd. The address listed for him was 500 Bill France Boulevard, which coincides with the location of the United States Post Office in Daytona Beach. Dusseault’s records indicate a lengthy history of arrests for various offenses such as trespassing, consuming alcohol in public, panhandling, littering, and burglary.
The incident occurred when Dusseault was hit by a cargo train operated by Florida East Coast Railroad on the railroad tracks of North Street. The train, consisting of 130 cars, was traveling north from Miami. The engineer of the train reported that Dusseault was crossing the tracks from east to west at approximately 7:15 p.m. Despite the engineer sounding the horn multiple times, Dusseault did not acknowledge or react to the approaching freight train. As a result, he was struck and fatally injured.
