Raequon Laster Obituary – On Thursday evening, a tragic accident occurred involving a scooter and a vehicle, resulting in the unfortunate death of 13-year-old Raequon Laster. The incident took place shortly before 5 p.m. in the 7900 block of West McNab Road. Upon receiving reports of the crash, deputies and North Lauderdale Fire Rescue promptly responded to the scene. Upon arrival, emergency crews discovered Laster in critical condition.
According to officials, a 27-year-old woman was driving a 2015 Mercedes Benz sedan in the eastbound direction on West McNab Road when the collision took place. Laster, who was riding a standup scooter, was traveling in the opposite direction on the eastbound lanes.
In an attempt to avoid the collision, the woman realized that the scooter was heading directly towards her vehicle. However, despite her efforts, Laster collided with the front passenger side of the Mercedes. He was propelled eastbound and landed in the center lane, where he was later found by first responders.
Laster was immediately transported to a nearby hospital, but unfortunately, he was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival. The woman involved in the incident remained at the scene and cooperated fully with law enforcement officials. Authorities have determined that neither excessive speed nor impairment played a role in this tragic incident.
The investigation into the crash is currently ongoing, with BSO Traffic Homicide Unit detectives diligently gathering additional information and evidence. Meanwhile, Laster’s family is making preparations for the funeral of their beloved lost one.
