Rami Hajj Ali Obituary – Calgary police have identified the victim of Monday’s fatal shooting in Marlborough Park. Rami Hajj Ali, 23, was killed in the parking lot of the Trans Canada Centre on 52 Street NE just before 2 p.m. on Nov. 13.
Two brothers, ages 14 and 18, were arrested and charged in the incident, which also left two men and a woman injured. The 14-year-old, who can’t be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, with one count of first-degree murder and two counts of attempted murder.
His older brother, who also can’t be named to protect the identity of the younger suspect, is charged with one count of accessory to murder after the fact. Both individuals made their first court appearance Thursday.
Police have said the incident was connected to ongoing organized crime conflict in Calgary. Monday’s shooting in Marlborough Park was one of many in a few short days, as shots were also fired in Bowness, MacEwan, Abbeydale, and Marlborough.
Investigators also said Thursday a third man was taken into custody in connection with the incident on Wednesday, but has since been released without charge.
