Sandra Forney Jackson Obituary – A fatal accident occurred in Iredell County on Monday, resulting in the death of one person and injuries to three others. The incident took place at approximately 5:40 p.m. on US 70 near Fanjoy Road. The NC State Highway Patrol reported that a section of the highway was closed for approximately four hours to facilitate the investigation.
According to authorities, a 2005 Hummer H2 was traveling east on US 70 when the driver veered across the center line and collided head-on with a 2005 Honda Pilot traveling west. The impact of this collision caused the Hummer to subsequently collide head-on with a 2001 Ford F-350.
The deceased individual has been identified as Sandra Forney Jackson, a 43-year-old who was driving the Honda Pilot. Unfortunately, Jackson succumbed to her injuries at the scene of the accident. Additionally, a juvenile who was also in the vehicle was transported to a nearby hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.
The driver of the Hummer, Lizbeth Estrada Mojica, a 20-year-old, was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. The 64-year-old driver of the Ford sustained minor injuries.
Preliminary investigations suggest that neither impairment nor excessive speed played a role in the crash. Furthermore, all individuals involved in the accident were wearing seatbelts.
Mojica has been charged with misdemeanor death by vehicle, driving left of center, and driving while her license was revoked.
