Shannon Rose Death – The New Jersey Attorney General’s office has identified a man who died on Dec. 5 after he was shot by Manchester Township police, along with two Manchester police officers involved in the incident. Shannon Rose, 39, was killed in the incident, a news release from the attorney general’s office said.
Authorities said preliminary information shows Manchester police responded to a 911 call at 8:28 p.m. on Dec. 5 about a person in distress, the attorney general’s office said. Officers found the person — now identified as Rose — on Elizabeth Avenue in the Whiting section. At about 9:10 p.m., Manchester Officers Nicholas Greenwood and Michael Anderson fired their guns, hitting Rose. Authorities recovered a firearm near Rose, the attorney general’s office said.
The attorney general’s office did not release any additional information and said the investigation is continuing. “A 2019 law, P.L. 2019, c. 1, requires the Attorney General’s Office to conduct investigations of a person’s death that occurs during an encounter with a law enforcement officer acting in the officer’s official capacity or while the decedent is in custody. It requires that all such investigations be presented to a grand jury to determine if the evidence supports the return of an indictment against the officer or officers involved,” the news release said.
