Sophomore Cameron Taylor Obituary, Death – A tragic incident occurred over the weekend at The Commons At Pembroke Apartment Complex near UNC Pembroke, resulting in the deaths of two individuals. Among the victims was Cameron Taylor, a 19-year-old sophomore and nursing major at UNC Pembroke.
He was also a member of the Eta Upsilon chapter of the Alpha Sigma Phi fraternity. UNC Pembroke Chancellor Robin Gary Cummings expressed his condolences and emphasized the impact of such senseless gun violence, particularly when it claims the life of someone so young. The identity of the second victim, a 22-year-old, has not yet been disclosed by the Pembroke Police Department.
Chancellor Cummings acknowledged that many students may have known him and assured the university community that his loss is being recognized. Additionally, three men and one woman sustained injuries in the shooting. The Pembroke Police Department and the State Bureau of Investigation are actively investigating the case, but no arrests have been made thus far. Authorities urge anyone with information to contact the Pembroke Police, Robeson County Sheriff’s Office, or dial 911.
