Stuart Smith Death – A pedestrian crash in Brockton, Massachusetts on Saturday morning has resulted in the death of a man who was intentionally struck by a vehicle. The incident occurred at 88 North Main Street around 8:52 a.m., prompting a response from the Brockton police. Upon arrival, they discovered a man with severe injuries and provided immediate medical aid.
The victim, identified as 50-year-old Stuart Smith, was transported to a local hospital but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries. At the scene, the driver of the vehicle, 45-year-old Vasco Semedo, was already being detained by individuals present. Semedo, driving a Toyota Rav 4, deliberately struck Smith with his vehicle, reversed, and struck him again before exiting the vehicle and assaulting him with a brick.
Initially, the police stated that detectives were investigating the case, but later announced that Semedo would be charged with murder, two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury, and negligent operation of a motor vehicle. Earl Haynes, a resident living across the street from the victim, expressed shock at witnessing his friend being hit by a car.
Haynes described Smith as a simple person who rode around on his scooter and emphasized that he was a good person who didn’t bother anyone. Semedo is scheduled to be arraigned for murder in Brockton District Court tomorrow. The investigation into the incident is still ongoing.
