Tamekia Tana Fluker Obituary – The Sylacauga Police Department has initiated an investigation into the first homicide of 2024 in the city, following the fatal shooting of a woman on Tuesday. On the afternoon of Tuesday, February 26, officers from the Sylacauga Police Department were dispatched to 306 S. Main Avenue in response to reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, they discovered the lifeless body of 40-year-old Tamekia Tana Fluker, a resident of the address, who had been shot at least once.
Various law enforcement agencies were present at the scene to gather witness statements and collect evidence. According to the police, it seemed that multiple gunshots were fired from the street, resulting in the victim being hit while inside her residence. The coroner was informed, and Tamekia Fluker’s body was taken to the Department of Forensic Science for an autopsy. This incident marks the second murder linked to a member of the Fluker family at or near the same location.
The first occurred on July 1, 2022, when 22-year-old Nartavius Cortez Fluker-Smith was fatally shot while seated in his vehicle in front of the residence. Nartavius Fluker-Smith, who is the brother of Tamekia Fluker, was the victim of Sylacauga’s initial homicide in 2022. In connection with Nartavius Fluker-Smith’s death, 19-year-old Sheridan Rashon Clark was arrested for capital murder and is presently detained in Talladega County Jail without bond, awaiting trial.
Investigators have stated that Tamekia Fluker was not the intended target of the shooting.
