Tiffany Smith Death – The pedestrian who was hit and killed on SR-201 Thursday morning after pulling over due to car troubles has been identified by authorities. Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Cameron Roden reported that the incident occurred around 10:30 a.m. on May 16. The victim, Tiffany Smith, a 42-year-old woman from Murray, Utah, was traveling eastbound on SR-201 near milepost 13, just east of Bangerter Highway in West Valley City. Smith stopped in the left lane, likely because of a flat tire, and exited her vehicle.
While Smith was outside her car, another vehicle approaching from the opposite direction collided with both her and her stationary vehicle. She was the only person in her car and died instantly upon impact.
As a result of the accident, the eastbound lanes of SR-201 were closed at Bangerter Highway. Traffic came to a complete standstill between Bangerter and Mtn. View Corridor by 11:30 a.m.
Several hours later, the highway was reopened to traffic.
