Timothy Alan Simmer Death – Officials have determined the identity of the individual who passed away in a traffic accident in Polk County on Wednesday. Deputies from Polk County arrived at the scene shortly after 2:30 p.m. following a report of a single-vehicle collision near the 2800 block of 126th Avenue. Upon arrival, they discovered a white GMC Yukon that had veered off the road and ended up in a ditch. The vehicle then proceeded to crash through a fence before finally coming to a halt in a nearby field.
The driver, who has been identified as 63-year-old Timothy Alan Simmer from Slater, was declared deceased at the site of the incident.
According to the most recent statistics provided by the Iowa Department of Transportation, a total of 67 individuals have lost their lives on Iowa roads this year. This figure represents a decrease of 19 fatalities compared to the same period in 2023. Over the past five years, an average of 350 individuals have tragically died in traffic accidents across the state annually.
