Tony Figueroa Obituary, Death – The 15-year-old boy who was shot and killed over the weekend has been identified by a family member as Tony Figueroa. Police believe Figueroa was shot around 11:30 p.m. Saturday on the 600 block of South Mission Street in Wenatchee. Figueroa’s mother identified her son to The Wenatchee World on Tuesday as the boy killed in the shooting.
Wenatchee police Capt. Brian Chance declined to comment but said the case is still under investigation. Cpl. Erik Bakke on Sunday said that based on cell phone recordings, Figueroa and another suspect were about to get into a fistfight when the suspect fired at the boy. Figueroa was pronounced dead on the scene.
Bakke said the suspect fled the scene in a vehicle and may be from out of the area. Police are working with other agencies to locate the suspect.
A family member said that a memorial service has not been scheduled yet. A GoFundMe fundraiser has also been created to cover funeral expenses.
