True Gallegos Obituary – The Pueblo County coroner has identified a woman killed in a traffic crash Thursday night. True Gallegos, 68, of Pueblo West, was struck by a vehicle while crossing the street near Joe Martinez and Purcell boulevards in Pueblo West Thursday evening, the coroner said in a social media post-Saturday. She was pronounced dead at the scene by a coroner investigator and an autopsy is scheduled. Gallegos’ next of kin have been notified, the coroner said.
Deputies responded to the intersection of Joe Martinez and Purcell boulevards at around 8:15 p.m. that night on a report of a pedestrian that was hit by a vehicle. A preliminary investigation indicated that a 2009 Jeep Wrangler was going southbound on Purcell when it struck a pedestrian, later identified as Gallegos, who was walking across the street, the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement Friday.
The 26-year-old driver of the Jeep was uninjured. Deputies do not believe alcohol, drugs or speed were factors in the accident. Based on a preliminary investigation, no charges are being filed at this time, said Gayle Perez, a spokesperson for the PCSO. However, the PCSO’s investigation is ongoing.
