Tyler Campbell, Susan Campbell Obituary – A month following the tragic accident that claimed the lives of a Garner family on Memorial Day, the driver who authorities stated was under the influence at the time of the collision has been taken into custody. Jordan Alexander Porter, aged 25, was apprehended and placed in jail on Friday by the Garner Police Department after being discharged from the hospital. Porter faces charges of three counts of second-degree murder, three counts of felony death by motor vehicle, as well as felony maintaining a vehicle for controlled substances, reckless driving, speeding at 82 mph in a 45 zone, possession of marijuana paraphernalia, failure to stop for a red light, expired registration, expired inspection, and transporting an open container of alcohol after consumption.
These new charges are in addition to the previous charge of driving under the influence that resulted from the fatal collision at US 70 Hwy and New Rand Road which claimed the lives of three individuals on May 27.
The deceased have been identified as Tyler Campbell, 28 years old, his wife Susan Campbell, 29 years old, and their eight-year-old son Miles Campbell.
Garner Police Chief Lorie Smith expressed, “The Garner Police Department is deeply saddened by the tragic events that occurred on Monday, May 27, 2024, leading to the loss of Tyler and Susan Campbell and their son, Miles. Responding to incidents involving loss of life is always difficult for first responders, and this case has been particularly heartbreaking due to the involvement of an entire family, including a young child. We appreciate the immense support from our public safety partners and the Garner community as we proceed with our investigation.
