Tyson Matthew Painton Obituary – A pedestrian lost his life after being hit by a tractor-trailer early Thursday morning in Iredell County, as reported by NC State Highway Patrol. The tragic incident occurred at approximately 6:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 18, on US 70 close to Cedar Hill Trail. According to troopers, a 2024 Kenworth tractor-trailer was heading west on US 70 when it collided with a pedestrian walking in the same direction.
The pedestrian, identified as Tyson Matthew Painton, 47, from Statesville, was wearing dark clothing and the road was poorly lit. Sadly, Painton succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The driver of the tractor-trailer, a 62-year-old man from Concord, was unharmed.
Following the accident, the area remained closed for approximately two hours.
The Highway Patrol’s preliminary investigation indicates that neither impairment nor speed played a role in the incident. As a result, no charges will be pressed in this case.
