Ak Ahmed Obituary – A man from Colonie lost his life in a crash on Route 9 on Wednesday morning, as reported by the Colonie police. The individual who tragically passed away has been identified as Ak Ahmed, aged 52, from Colonie. According to the police, the collision occurred around 8 a.m. on Loudon Road, Route 9, close to the junction of Old Loudon Road and the North Colonie Youth Baseball Complex.
Reports from the police indicate that Ahmed, who was driving a car, was heading northbound when he veered across the median into the southbound lanes and collided head-on with another vehicle. Following the impact, Ahmed’s car came to rest on its side in a ditch, as stated by the police.
Emergency Medical Services from Colonie transported the driver of the other vehicle involved, identified as Morgan Woodcock, 29, from Mechanicville, to Albany Medical Center with injuries described as non-life-threatening.
Ahmed was trapped in his vehicle, and the Boght and Latham fire departments were called to the scene to extricate him and assist with road closures, according to the police. Despite the efforts of Colonie EMS to aid Ahmed while he was still in his vehicle, he unfortunately succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
The police mentioned that neither speed nor impairment seemed to have played a role in the crash.
