Aldo Romero Obituary, Death – A wrong-way driver died after he collided with a sport utility vehicle which was then rear-ended by a car in South Whittier Wednesday night, Nov. 1. The 3-car crash happened on Mulberry Drive and Mills Avenue in the unincorporated county area around 7:50 p.m.
A Hyundai Sonata was heading west on Mulberry Drive when for an unknown reason it crossed into the opposing lanes and struck a Jeep Cherokee, said Officer Zachary Salazar, a spokesman for the California Highway Patrol.
As a result of the impact, he said, a Lexus IS 250 eastbound on Mulberry rear-ended the Cherokee. The Sonata’s driver, a 23-year-old Whittier man, died at the scene, Salazar said. The medical examiner’s office identified him as Aldo Romero.
The Cherokee’s driver, a 42-year-old Whittier man, was injured and taken to a hospital. He was also arrested on suspicion of misdemeanor driving under the influence and cited, Salazar said.
The Pico Rivera woman driving the Lexus and her passenger, a La Mirada woman, complained of pain, he added.
