Alfredo Jose Diez Seoane, Kseniia Shanina Obituary, Death – WDBJ7 has obtained information regarding the identities of the five individuals who tragically lost their lives in a private plane accident in Bath County on Sunday. According to the Spanish publication La Voz de Galicia, the victims have been identified as Alfredo Jose Diez Seoane, aged 39, his wife Kseniia Shanina, and their 3-year-old son Nicolas. Additionally, the pilot, Claudio Colmenares, and co-pilot, Gagan Reddy, both hailing from Florida, were also among those who perished, as reported by Miami’s ABC affiliate. There were no other passengers on board the aircraft.
Diez, originally from the small town of Betanzos in Northwestern Spain, was mentioned in a statement by the town’s mayor on X, expressing deep sorrow over the loss of a fellow Betanzos resident, along with his wife and son, in the Virginia plane crash. The mayor extended heartfelt condolences to the family and their loved ones on behalf of the entire community.
According to La Voz de Galicia, Diez immigrated to the United States and managed to build a successful business empire, starting with a mere $300. He established Atlantis Aviation, which flourished and expanded its operations to multiple countries. In a recent interview with the newspaper, Diez proudly shared his journey, stating, “In 2015, I purchased a small plane, in 2016, I founded a flight school, in 2018, I established a maintenance company, and in 2020, I acquired a private jet airline.”
Virginia State Police have revealed that the ill-fated flight originated from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and was destined for Ingalls Field in Bath County. Unfortunately, during its approach to the runway, the plane encountered difficulties, striking trees before ultimately crashing into the hillside.
The National Transportation Safety Board and Federal Aviation Administration are currently conducting an investigation to determine the cause of the accident, which occurred amidst winds reaching approximately 40 miles per hour.
