Canh Van Le, Britni N. McLaughlin Obituary – The individuals who lost their lives in the tragic incident that occurred in East Lansdowne on Wednesday have been identified. The victims are Canh Van Le, 42; Xuong Le, 40; Britni N. McLaughlin; Natalya Le, 17; Nakayla Le, 13; and Xavier Le, 10, according to the Delaware County District Attorney’s Office.
According to the DA’s office, Can Van Le, fatally shot his brother Xuong Le, McLaughlin (who was Xuong’s wife), and their three children. It has been reported that the parents of Canh Van Le and Xuong Le witnessed the shooting in the home at 58 Lewis Ave. in East Lansdowne and then fled the home to call 911 before the fire broke out.
The Delaware County District Attorney’s Office has confirmed that three bodies have been found so far. Among them are two adults, one of whom is believed to be the shooter, and one likely to be a child. During the search of the destroyed home, authorities also discovered a rifle.
District Attorney Jack Stollsteimer stated that the Le family consisted of three adults and three children who were residing in the home. Upon receiving a call about an 11-year-old girl being shot, officers from East Lansdowne, Lansdowne, and Upper Darby were dispatched to the scene at approximately 3:47 p.m. on Wednesday.
Upon their arrival, officers were met with gunfire from inside the home. One officer from East Lansdowne and one from Lansdowne were injured in the incident. The injured officers have been identified as David Schiazza, a 54-year-old veteran of the Lansdowne Police Department, and John Meehan, a 44-year-old officer with 22 years of service in the East Lansdowne Police.
Schiazza sustained a gunshot wound to his leg and was released from the hospital on Thursday afternoon. Meehan underwent a lengthy surgery for a gunshot wound to his left arm and is still receiving treatment. It remains uncertain when he will be discharged.
The injured officers were assisted to safety by Upper Darby officers and were transported to Penn Presbyterian Hospital. Fortunately, their injuries are not life-threatening, according to authorities.
Approximately 15 minutes after the shooting, the shooter’s actions came to an end.
