Carolina Martinez Obituary – A woman who was shot and killed during a bar shooting in Pajaro has been identified as Carolina Martinez, 36, of San Jose. The victim was identified by her sister, Sonia Martinez, who spoke exclusively with Action News 8. Martinez was one of four people shot early Tuesday morning inside the El Torero restaurant bar on the south end of Pajaro. A man was also shot and killed and two other women were injured but are expected to survive.
Later that evening, about 8 p.m., the accused gunman walked into the Watsonville police department and surrendered. He’s been identified as Sergio Carranza Ramos, 47, of Watsonville. He was transferred to the Monterey County Jail, where he’s being held on two counts of murder.
The sister of the deceased woman said Martinez worked as a waitress at the bar. According to the victim’s sister, she said there was a fight inside the club and several people were kicked out of the bar. But one of them returned with a gun and started shooting, according to Sonia Martinez.
Investigators say Ramos is believed to be the lone gunman and there is no further threat to the community.
