Carson Philbin Death – A Charlotte man’s body was found after he was swept out into the seas of Hawaii Saturday morning, according to the Hawaii Island police. Carson Philbin, 24, was identified as the person deceased. The incident happened around 11:20 a.m. in the South Point area of Ka’ū. Police say they were alerted when three men and one woman jumped into the ocean at the “hoist” area and had trouble due to rough conditions.
With the assistance of local bystanders, three of the four distressed swimmers safely made it back to shore. Philbin, however, did not. Authorities stated he was swept further out to sea, and a witness reported he was about 75 yards offshore before going under. With the help of a local fisherman and the Hawai’i Fire Department, fire officials located Philbin’s body; he was later pronounced dead after being rushed to the Hilo Medical Center. An autopsy has been ordered to determine the exact cause of death.
