Christopher Ardella Death – Last week, a driver struck and killed a man riding a bicycle, and then fled the scene. The driver, identified as Christopher Ardella, was possibly under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time, according to the police. The incident occurred at the intersection of Military Trail and Lantana Road, where the bicyclist, a 55-year-old man with an unknown address, crossed into the path of Ardella’s 2011 Dodge Nitro. Ardella was traveling northbound on Military, while the bicyclist was attempting to cross the northbound lanes.
The collision was described as “violent” by deputies, as the bicyclist was thrown onto Ardella’s hood and into his windshield before falling off the fender and onto the road. Ardella initially stopped at the scene but then fled north on Military Trail. He was later found at his residence in Lake Worth Beach.
The bicyclist was rushed to Delray Medical Center, where he was sadly pronounced dead. Ardella, on the other hand, did not sustain any injuries in the collision. The identity of the cyclist has not been released yet, as the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office is working to inform his next of kin.
Based on the sheriff’s report, investigators suspect that Ardella was impaired by drugs or alcohol during the crash. Court records reveal that Ardella has a history of 16 traffic violations in the past 20 years, including speeding and driving with a suspended or revoked license.
As of now, no charges have been filed in relation to the collision.
