David San Miguel, Death – A 36-year-old San Bernardino resident was found shot to death in a car in that city early Monday, Aug. 14, the San Bernardino Police Department said. David B. San Miguel was discovered dead near Hanford and State streets on the city’s far west side at about 2:45 a.m., Lt. Jennifer Kohrell, a department spokeswoman, said Tuesday.
She said detectives are following up on leads. Also Tuesday, Kohrell identified the man shot to death by police during a robbery on Friday as Daniel R. Smith, 34, of Banning.
Police said the man had just robbed a gas station market at gunpoint, walked into the fueling area and pointed a gun at an officer. The officer fired, killing Smith.
