Dennis Katri Death – A 79-year-old man from Eureka lost his life in a single-vehicle accident on U.S. Highway 101 near Humboldt Hill, as reported by the California Highway Patrol. The CHP dispatch center received a call about a vehicle that had overturned in the northbound lanes of the highway at approximately 12:40 p.m. Emergency personnel arrived at the scene to discover a 1998 Nissan Pathfinder that had rolled over and landed back on its wheels. The driver, Dennis Katri, was tragically killed in the incident.
The CHP is currently conducting an investigation to determine the cause of the crash. Initial reports suggest that, for reasons unknown, Katri allowed his vehicle to veer into the center median, resulting in the rollover. The CHP has stated that impairment is not believed to have played a role in the accident.
