Edward Holmes Obituary, Death – A man was shot and killed by two officers in New York, leading to an investigation by authorities and demands for answers from his family. Edward Holmes, aged 58, was fatally shot on Saturday morning in Buffalo. According to the police, Holmes discharged his shotgun and the officers responded by firing back.
Buffalo Police Commissioner Joseph Gramaglia stated that the officers were called to the scene after receiving a report of a man with a gun. They found Holmes holding a shotgun in the middle of a residential street. Despite repeated commands to drop his weapon, Holmes chose to fire it instead.
Gramaglia mentioned that the two officers involved in the shooting have been placed on administrative leave, and the New York Attorney General’s office is conducting an investigation, as per standard protocol in such cases.
While the officers have not been identified, the police have announced their intention to release body camera footage from the incident in the coming days. Meanwhile, friends and family of Holmes held a vigil outside his home on Sunday evening. They expressed concerns about the officers’ handling of the situation and questioned why more efforts were not made to deescalate it.
It is worth noting that the 911 call that prompted the police response appears to have originated from Holmes’ phone number.
