Elizabeth “Ellie” Sims Obituary – Elizabeth “Ellie” Sims, a 20-year-old Florida State University sophomore, was tragically struck and killed by a vehicle on the west side of Tallahassee. The incident occurred on Monday evening near the intersection of Lorene and Pensacola Street. Sims, originally from Franklin, Tennessee, was a member of the Alpha Chi Omega sorority.
Witnesses reported that she was using the crosswalk when she was hit by 18-year-old Willis Trueblood Jr., who fled the scene. Trueblood Jr. was later apprehended by the Tallahassee Police Department in southwest Tallahassee. Florida State President Richard McCullough expressed his condolences in a statement addressing Sims’ passing:
We are deeply saddened by the heartbreaking loss of one of our students, Elizabeth “Ellie” Sims, who was killed Monday when she was struck by a vehicle near campus.
