Jason Paul Bisson, Death – State police have released further details about the circumstances surrounding a crash death on Interstate 84 westbound Monday evening. Motorcyclist Jason Paul Bisson, 37, of Texas Avenue in Bridgeport, “suffered injuries not compatible with life” east of Exit 36 around 6:02 p.m. Monday, according to state police. Bisson was located on the right shoulder of the highway and pronounced dead on the scene, state police said.
Two vehicles, a 2014 Suzuki 999 motorcycle registered in New York and a 2022 Kia Telluride SUV registered in New Jersey, were involved in the crash, according to state police. None of the five occupants of the car — a 51-year-old woman, a 38-year-old woman, a 15-year-old boy, a 38-year-old man, and a 35-year-old New Jersey man listed as the owner — reported any injuries, and all refused medical evaluation, state police said.
While riding in the right lane of three, state police said, the motorcycle operator, identified as Bisson, lost control, causing the motorcycle to cross the lane lines into the center lane and collide with the Kia. The motorcycle then careened back across the right lane, entered the right shoulder and hit the wire rope guardrail, throwing Bisson from the bike, state police said.
Troop H, of Hartford, responded, according to state police. The Kia sustained minor damage and was able to be driven from the scene, but the motorcycle had sustained disabling damage and had to be towed away, state police said.
Following the crash, I-84 westbound was closed between exits 37 and 36, according to the state Department of Transportation. The highway had been reopened as of Tuesday morning, a dispatcher at the Troop H barracks said.
The incident remains under investigation, according to state police.
