Joshua Campbell, Detarius Haynes Obituary – The two individuals who lost their lives in Ferguson on Tuesday morning have been identified by the police. The incident occurred shortly after 1:30 a.m. in the 10700 block of West Florissant, according to the St. Louis County police. A Ferguson police officer was exiting the QuikTrip convenience store when he heard gunshots. Upon investigation, he witnessed 18-year-old Joshua Campbell firing at 26-year-old Detarius Haynes. In response, the officer discharged his service weapon, striking Campbell.
Haynes collapsed near a gas pump, while Campbell fled to West Florissant Avenue before eventually collapsing. Tragically, both men succumbed to their injuries at the scene.
Authorities have determined that the two men arrived at the gas station together in the same vehicle. The Ferguson officer, a 37-year-old with approximately nine years of law enforcement experience, emerged unharmed from the incident.
Campbell resided in the 1500 block of Knollway Drive in Ferguson, while Haynes lived in the Spanish Lake area on Coal Bank Road.
