Joshua Johnston Hayes Death – A woman from Birmingham is currently incarcerated after being charged in connection with a fatal shooting that took place at a residence in Huffman in April. According to the police, 31-year-old Kayla White has been accused of murder in the death of 27-year-old Joshua Johnston Hayes.
Authorities received a distress call shortly before 11 a.m. on April 2, reporting that an individual had been shot at a residence located in the 900 block of Navarro Lane. Upon arrival, officers from Irondale were the first to reach the scene and discovered that a man had succumbed to a gunshot wound.
The police stated that the shooting transpired during a domestic dispute between White and Hayes, who were involved in a romantic relationship. Birmingham Police apprehended White for questioning and she was detained on a 48-hour felony extension for murder, as per the police report.
Detectives presented the case to the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office on May 29, resulting in the issuance of a murder warrant.
On June 6, Helena police conducted a traffic stop and subsequently arrested White based on the murder warrant.
She is currently being held without the option of bond at the Jefferson County Jail.
