Manuel Arturo Aguirre Obituary – The El Paso police officials have requested the assistance of the public in identifying the unknown assailant responsible for the fatal stabbing incident that occurred on a Sun Metro bus. This incident took place on May 2 in the South Side, and it is currently being highlighted as the “Crime of the Week” by Crime Stoppers of El Paso.
Although the victim’s name has not been officially released by the police, it has been revealed through an online fundraising page and an interview conducted by Channel 14-KFOX with the victim’s family. The victim, Manuel Arturo Aguirre, aged 43, was on his way home from work in Northeast El Paso when an argument broke out between a man and a woman on the bus. Aguirre attempted to intervene in the dispute around 6 p.m., resulting in a physical altercation between him and the other man involved. During the altercation, the unknown assailant, armed with a knife, stabbed Aguirre. The assailant then exited the bus near the American Fabrics building on Texas Ave. in South El Paso.
As of May 5, the unidentified assailant remains at large, and no arrests have been made in connection with the incident. The description of the assailant has not been disclosed by the authorities. Aguirre, who resided in the Lower Valley, was taken to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries later that night.
Aguirre’s family has praised him as a hero for his courageous act of standing up for another passenger on the bus. His sister, Carmen Dahl, expressed her brother’s character on the GoFundMe page, stating that he always defended those who were mistreated.
