Marcia Maie Bent Obituary – Marcia Maie Bent, 77, of 219 N. Clinton St., Carthage, passed away on Friday morning, January 12, 2024, at the Carthage Area Hospital with her family at her side, as she went home to her Lord Jesus Christ. Marcia was born on January 14, 1946, in Watertown to the late Chester and Eleanor Coe Backman. She attended a country, one-room schoolhouse in Naumburg. She graduated from Beaver Falls High School in 1963 as Class Secretary. Marcia then attended the Watertown School of Commerce, where she met Dean, the Love of her life. On October 23, 1965, they were married in the Naumburg Methodist Church with the Rev. Stuart McCleary officiating. Marcia worked at Wager Construction, Watertown, then as an administrative assistant for the Town of Wilna Housing Authority. She retired after 23 years of service in September of 2008.
Marcia was a communicant of Grace Episcopal Church in Carthage and a member of the Carthage American Legion Auxiliary for 51 years. She was also a member of the Carthage Area Hospital Auxiliary and would volunteer at the Hospital Gift Shop. Marcia also belonged to the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed gardening, especially reaping the benefits from her raspberry bush, from which she made mouthwatering pies. Afternoon pinochle with her friends and trips to Turning Stone were also favorites of Marcia.
Surviving Marcia are her loving husband, Dean, two children, daughter Lynne Bent Intorica (Rob Oliver), and son Jeffery Bent. Grandchildren Kyle Bent, Nicholas Intorcia (Karli), Zachary Intorcia (Breana), Tanner and Jillian Bent. Also surviving is Rudy her Dachshund, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, and nephews. Marcia was predeceased by her parents, her big brother, Ronald Bachman, and a son, Michael Todd Bent, lost at birth. Marcia was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to so many. She was caring, kind, welcoming, and loved by everyone she interacted with. Her smile and bright blue eyes lit up the room.
Calling hours for Marcia will be on Sunday, January 14th from 12:00 pm – 3:00 pm at the Bezanilla-McGraw Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm with Rev. Holly Evans and Wayne Arnold officiating. Spring burial will be in Union Cemetery, Naumburg.
