Oscar Santos Farela Death – The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner’s office confirmed the identity of one of the two individuals who lost their lives in a high-speed traffic collision in the Jefferson Park vicinity on Friday. The victim was Oscar Santos Farela, 26 years old. The incident occurred at the intersection of West 29th Street and Arlington Avenue at approximately 11:50 a.m. on Thursday.
Law enforcement officers were alerted to the crash involving a black BMW. The vehicle was reported to have disregarded a red light at 29th Street while heading southbound on Arlington Avenue, resulting in a collision with multiple parked cars. A statement released by the Los Angeles Police Department on Thursday afternoon detailed the events. Following the crash, one individual attempted to flee the scene but was apprehended shortly after.
At the scene, authorities disclosed that one of the deceased victims, a female, was ejected onto the street upon impact with the BMW, which was traveling at nearly 100 mph. The woman, whose identity remains undisclosed, succumbed to her injuries at the scene. The second victim was situated in the rear seat of the BMW. The driver of the BMW managed to escape the scene and was pursued by witnesses to the vicinity of Third Avenue and Jefferson Boulevard. The driver was eventually apprehended and detained until law enforcement officers arrived. The identity of the driver has not been made public.
