Paul Kasprzycki Obituary – The Kasprzycki family has made plans to scatter the ashes of their loved one at Jan’s residence in Olinda, which is situated at an elevation of approximately 4,000 feet (1,200 meters) above sea level on the slopes of the Haleakala volcano. Jan Kasprzycki expressed that this location offers one of the most breathtaking views of the ocean. He believes that his brother will now have the opportunity to enjoy this view every day, 24/7.
Jan also wishes for people to remember his brother as a kind, gentle, and good-hearted individual.
According to a recent after-action report by the Maui police, 42 of the fire’s victims were discovered inside buildings, 39 were found outdoors, and 15 were located inside vehicles. Additionally, one person was recovered from the ocean, while three others passed away from fire-related injuries while in the hospital.
The majority of the victims were found within the first three days following the fire. Forensic experts and cadaver dogs meticulously combed through the ashes in search of bodies that may have been cremated. To aid in identification, authorities collected DNA samples from family members. Remarkably, some of the remains collected were as small as a quarter.
In September, DNA testing enabled officials to revise the death toll from 115 to a minimum of 97. However, the toll slightly increased over the following month as some victims succumbed to their injuries or as additional remains were discovered by the police.
