Raymone Dagin, Mary Seabrook Death – The Beaufort County Coroner’s Office has released the names of the five individuals who tragically lost their lives in a devastating crash on St. Helena Island. Among the victims was a 4-year-old boy. The deceased have been identified as Raymone Dagin, 26, from Beaufort; Mary Seabrook, 46, from Beaufort; Henry Watson, 31, from St. Helena Island; Tiera Seabrook, 31, from St. Helena Island; and Jaycean Perry, 4, from St. Helena Island. All of them sadly passed away at the scene of the accident, as confirmed by Beaufort County Coroner David Ott.
The collision, involving three vehicles, occurred on the Sea Island Parkway near the intersection of Polowana Road at approximately 10:30 p.m. on May 29. According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, a BMW sedan carrying four occupants was traveling south and attempted to overtake a Toyota Tundra, which was also heading south. In the process, the BMW collided head-on with a northbound Honda Accord. Following the impact, the BMW veered off the road, overturned, and caught fire.
“The BMW turned on its side and was fully involved,” stated Scott Harris, spokesperson for the Lady’s Island-St. Helena Fire District, in an interview with The Post and Courier. “It had caught fire. The gas tank ruptured.” The Toyota Tundra also veered off the road in an attempt to avoid the collision and ended up striking the BMW. Fortunately, the driver of the Toyota emerged unharmed.
Autopsies for all the victims are expected to be concluded by May 31, according to Ott. The South Carolina Highway Patrol is currently conducting an investigation into the accident.
