Rosa Lidia Jimenez Obituary – The Kern County Coroner’s Office has identified a second woman killed days after a crash on Highway 99 as 59-year-old Rosa Lidia Jimenez of Bakersfield. The California Highway Patrol said on Sunday, October 29, 2023, at around 2:34 p.m., officers were called to a solo-vehicle crash on southbound Highway 99 at Olive Drive.
CHP said a preliminary investigation found that a 57-year-old Bakersfield man was driving a 2003 Ford southbound on Highway 99, approaching Olive Drive, at an undetermined speed. According to CHP, the driver made an unsafe turning movement and lost control of the Ford causing the Ford to travel in a southwesterly direction off the roadway and crash into a wooden signpost. CHP said the Ford continued in a southwesterly direction and overturned.
The driver and the right front passenger, later identified as Rosa Lidia Jimenez, in the Ford were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash and sustained major injuries. Both were taken to Kern Medical. The coroner’s report said Rosa Lidia Jimenez died from her injuries on November 2. CHP said a second passenger, identified as Celia Jimenez of Los Angeles, was ejected and died at the scene.
According to a GoFundMe made for the victims involved, it said, “My uncle was driving home when he ran over a metal pole which caused one of the back tires on his truck to pop. My uncle tried to control the car, however, shortly after one of the front tires also popped which caused him to lose control of the car. Their truck rolled over three times.”
It continued by saying, “Celia was the life of the party. Her nieces and nephews would describe her as the cool aunt. She could walk into any dark room and automatically turn it bright.”
“Rosa welcomed all who entered her life. Her nieces and nephews would describe her as a compassionate, energetic, and lovable person. Her ability to make you feel safe with a hug is what I will miss the most. She touched the hearts of all who met her,” said in the GoFundMe.
The GoFundMe said the donations will be divided equally between the three involved in the crash.
