Seely Rudolph Obituary, Death – An 18-year-old was killed Sunday after being struck in the head by a gunshot while sitting in a vehicle with a 17-year-old who told police he was playing with a pistol. Officers responded around 2:15 a.m. Sunday to a house near 31st Street and 129th East Avenue, where the 17-year-old had gone for help following the shooting. The victim, identified Tuesday as Seely Rudolph was found dead in a Jeep outside the house. He was reportedly inside the vehicle with a woman and the 17-year-old, who had a .45-caliber 1911 pistol that he told police he got from a friend’s house.
The 17-year-old, who has not been identified, reportedly told police he was in the backseat when he accidentally shot Rudolph in the head. “The gun was not reported as missing or stolen at the time,” police said in a social media post urging gun owners to keep track of their firearms. “Should your gun get stolen or lost, we need the serial number to enter it into the system.” The 17-year-old was taken into custody, police said. The District Attorney’s Office will determine what charges he might face in the homicide.
