Shannon Gooden Obituary – A shooting incident in Burnsville resulted in the tragic deaths of three first responders, with Shannon Gooden identified as the perpetrator. Gooden, 38, lost his life after opening fire on the responders, including police officers Matthew Ruge and Paul Elmstrand, as well as paramedic Adam Finseth. Burnsville Sgt. Adam Medlicott was injured but has since been discharged from the hospital.
The incident occurred when police responded to a call for help at a Burnsville home where an armed man had barricaded himself with seven children. Sources revealed that the mother of some of the children had expressed concerns for their safety. Gooden’s identity was initially revealed through scanner reports, with further investigation confirming his involvement in the tragic event.
Records indicate that Gooden was renting the home where the shootings occurred. Despite a previous conviction for disorderly conduct and assault, Gooden had petitioned for the restoration of his firearm rights in 2020, a request that was ultimately denied. Gooden, who had five children and cared for two others with his girlfriend, displayed an interest in firearms as evidenced by social media videos showing him handling weapons.
