Shawn Hopkins Obituary – The man who was fatally struck by a car in Dayton last month has now been identified as Shawn Hopkins, a 45-year-old individual, according to the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office. The incident occurred on Friday, January 26 at 7 p.m. on Needmore Road in the 3500 block, prompting the dispatch of police to the scene.
Dayton Police Sergeant Gordon Cairns reported that Hopkins was hit by a vehicle traveling eastbound on Needmore Rd. The driver had entered the two-way turn lane and attempted to make a turn when the collision occurred. Hopkins was immediately transported to a nearby hospital but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries on January 28.
The driver, who was operating the vehicle with a suspended license, claimed to have seen Hopkins but was unable to brake in time. Despite this, the driver remained at the scene following the accident. The investigation into the crash is currently being conducted by the Traffic Services Unit of the Dayton Police Department.
