Trevor James Myrickm: The Texas Department of Public Safety has identified the suspect in the murder of a 74-year-old man in Odessa as 26-year-old Trevor James Myrick from Hobbs, New Mexico. The search for Myrick commenced on April 15 at 10:30 a.m. following a murder incident at a residence in West Odessa. Upon investigation, it was discovered that Myrick had fled the scene with a stolen black Ford Mustang. The vehicle was later found by law enforcement, but Myrick managed to escape on foot, leading authorities on a chase across counties that concluded in Irion County on RM 2469, approximately 5 miles southwest of Mertzon.
On Tuesday, April 16, at around 4 p.m., TxDPS troopers located Myrick near the intersection of Duncan Avenue and North Broadway Street in Mertzon, resulting in an officer-involved shooting. Myrick was fatally shot, and the Texas Rangers are conducting an investigation into the incident.
