William A. Williams Obituary – The Kent Police Department is currently investigating a traffic collision that resulted in the death of a 55-year-old man on Monday evening. As stated in a press release, authorities promptly dispatched both police and fire units to the vicinity of Lake Street near Edgewood Drive at approximately 8:45 p.m. in response to a report of a collision involving two vehicles.
Upon investigation, it was determined that a Spectrum bucket truck had been parked on the side of the road, facing eastbound on Lake Street, while its worker was in the process of gathering equipment from the truck. According to the police, a Chevrolet Malibu carrying two individuals approached the area and collided with the back of the Spectrum truck at a “suspected high rate of speed.”
Tragically, the passenger in the Malibu, identified as 55-year-old William A. Williams from Kent, lost his life instantly. The driver of the Malibu and the Spectrum truck worker were both transported to local hospitals with severe injuries, although not considered life-threatening. The Kent Police Department received assistance from the Summit County Metro Crash Team during the investigation.
Authorities in Kent suspect that both alcohol consumption and excessive speed played a role in the occurrence of the collision.
