Alice Kret Obituary, Death – Neighbors in Mississauga are identifying a woman who was killed in a house fire. The fire occurred at a two-story townhouse on Bromsgrove Road near Winston Churchill Boulevard around 3 a.m. on Tuesday, March 12. Firefighters rescued two individuals from upstairs bedrooms, but unfortunately, one person passed away shortly after being taken to the hospital, and the second person died later.
Two other individuals managed to escape the fire but sustained injuries and were transported to the hospital. The victim, Alice Kret, lived in the house with her two sons and a daughter. Peel Regional Police are currently investigating the incident and have confirmed that an adult male and female resident were killed. However, they were unable to provide further details at this time.
Alice Kret, who had resided in the home for over 40 years, was well-known in the neighborhood for her kindness. She would often share homemade perogies and cabbage rolls with her neighbors. The identity of the man who died in the fire has not yet been disclosed. Initially, firefighters suspected multiple points of origin for the fire, deeming it suspicious. However, later investigations by the Office of the Fire Marshal indicated that there was only one point of origin. The investigation is still ongoing, and it is yet to be determined whether the fire was suspicious or not.
