Alonzo Hollie Death – The 22-year-old man from Belleville who was killed in a shooting in Ypsilanti this week has been identified as Alonzo Hollie, according to the police. Hollie’s body was discovered in a car at the Sauk Trail Pointe Apartments on West Michigan Avenue. Initially, the police had identified him as being from Ypsilanti, but it was clarified that his family is from there.
The police were called to the apartment complex after receiving a report of a shooting and found Hollie deceased in the vehicle. No other individuals were harmed in the incident. The details of the case are currently limited, and the sheriff’s office has urged anyone with information to come forward. The department emphasized that cooperation and support from the public could aid in bringing justice and closure to Hollie’s family and preventing future acts of violence.
A resident of the apartment complex reported hearing yelling and a gunshot on the same evening Hollie was found. The parking lot of the complex was also marked off with police tape. Although Hollie did not reside at the Sauk Trail Pointe apartment complex, the police believe the altercation took place there. The preliminary investigation suggests that there may have been a fight prior to the shooting, and the incident is being treated as a homicide, marking the first recorded homicide in Washtenaw County in 2024.
