Danis Vargas Obituary, Death – The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office has released the names of the two individuals who tragically lost their lives in a harrowing three-car collision last week on U.S. Hwy. 151. The incident, occurring around 2:45 a.m. last Wednesday, involved a box truck allegedly traveling in the wrong direction. The collision unfolded near State Hwy. 49 when the box truck, heading south, collided with a Kia sedan, subsequently causing a collision with a Chevrolet.
The devastating crash claimed the lives of the 25-year-old Kia driver, Danis Vargas, and one of his passengers, 28-year-old Yorling Gonzalez Gutierrez. Both were pronounced dead at the scene. Emergency responders rushed the two remaining occupants of the Kia to the hospital, where they continued to receive medical care five days post-incident. Additionally, all three occupants of the Chevrolet were hospitalized, although the extent of their injuries remains undisclosed.
The driver of the box truck, identified only as a 69-year-old man from Pennsylvania, escaped mention of injury in the released statement. The collision prompted a four-hour closure of the highway, with normal traffic flow resuming shortly before seven o’clock. The Dodge County Crash Investigation team spearheads the ongoing inquiry into the incident. However, as of Monday, no updates on the progress of the investigation were provided by the Sheriff’s Office. The community mourns the loss of two lives and awaits further details on the circumstances surrounding this tragic event.
